About Us
The Chapel On The Hill was originally built as a church by the Wesleyan Community in 1869. It served as a place of worship for close on one hundred years. It was used as a social centre for a number of years by the local Church of Ireland community. It served as a classroom of the Intermediate School "Carnegie" until 1984. Being then unoccupied it fell into disrepair and was sold in the mid 1990's. Planning permission to demolish it to make way for a commercial development was refused because of the historic importance of the building.
It was purchased in 2004 and been fully restored to it original condition in conjunction with the Kerry County Council Conservation and Heritage sections. It is now a performance venue for the Arts. The Chapel on the Hill can also be adapted to facilitate the recording of music or other Art forms. |
